Powers that cannot but intervene in my life and you are not God, Die
The War Against Unseen Thrones
Text: Romans 8:38-39 & Isaiah 45:5-7
Beloved, look at me. Not at the ceiling, not at your shoes. Look up.
There is a sickness in the modern soul. We have learned to be polite to our oppressors. We call them “circumstances.” We call them “fate.” We call them “the system” or “my trauma” or “how things are.” We bow to them. We plan our days around their temper tantrums.
But the text today is a scream. It is a bullet loaded into the chamber of a prayer: “Powers that cannot but intervene in my life—and you are not God—DIE!”
I. The Admission of the Siege
Let us not pretend. There are powers that intervene. You wake up with a chemical imbalance that was voted into your skull by your ancestors’ diet. You step outside and a government you did not consent to taxes your breath. A car cuts you off. A phone buzzes with an algorithm designed to hijack your dopamine. These are powers. They do not ask permission. They intervene.
Paul knew these. He listed them: angels, principalities, powers, things present, things to come, height, depth. He knew there is a furniture of the universe that wants to sit on your chest.
II. The Blasphemy of the Inevitable
But here is the heresy I want you to repent of today: You have been treating these powers as if they were God.
You say, “Well, the economy is crashing, so I must be anxious.” That is worship.
You say, “My family has always been this way, so I cannot change.” That is a creed.
You say, “The science says this is my personality type.” You have built an altar to a questionnaire.
These powers whisper, “We cannot but intervene. We are necessary. We are fate.”
And the Lord laughs from heaven. “I am the Lord, and there is no other. I form the light and create darkness. I make peace and create calamity. I, the Lord, do ALL these things.” (Isaiah 45:7)
Do you see? There is only One Necessity. Only One who has the right to say, “I cannot but intervene.” And His name is not Anxiety. His name is not Genetics. His name is not the State.
III. The Verdict
So today, this court is in session. You are the jury. You are the executioner.
Stand up. (Pause)
Stand up in your spirit. Point your finger at the thing that has been telling you it is unavoidable. The addiction that says, “I am stronger than your will.” The grief that says, “I will live here forever.” The political chaos that says, “You are a victim of history.”
And you say this: “You are not God.”
That is the only exorcism needed. Demons do not flee from shouting. They flee from jurisdiction. When you declare, “You have no right to the throne of my life,” their power cord is pulled.
IV. The Sentence
Now pronounce the sentence. It is a short word. Die.
Not “Go away.” Not “Please leave me alone.” Die.
In the Old Testament, when the Ark of the Covenant came into the temple of Dagon, the false god didn’t run away. It fell on its face, and then its head and hands broke off on the threshold. The powers can only intervene if you grant them immortality.
Starve them. Stop consulting them. Stop asking, “What does my anxiety think I should do?” Stop asking, “What does my bank account say about my worth?”
When you stop treating a power as eternal, it rots.
V. The Benediction of the True Intervener
You are afraid, perhaps. You think, “If I kill this fear, if I kill this compulsion, what will guide me?”
Listen to the logic of the Cross. The only legitimate Power—the One who cannot but intervene because He is Love—already did. Christ intervened into your death. He crashed the funeral of your soul. He violated every law of physics and justice to get to you.
That same Jesus says to the storm, “Peace, be still.” And He says to you, “Be free.”
So go home. When the power knocks tonight—the urge to check, the urge to spiral, the urge to obey the algorithm—do not argue with it. Do not negotiate.
Just look at it with the holy boredom of a person who has seen the Resurrection and say, “You are not God. Die.”
And walk into the silence where the real God is waiting.
In the name of the Father, who wills; the Son, who bled; and the Spirit, who breaks every chain. Amen.
Take the decrees below aggressively!
- Every power that cannot stop interfering in my destiny, die in the name of Jesus.
- Powers monitoring my progress and intervening against my breakthroughs, scatter by fire.
- Every satanic authority claiming ownership over my life, be destroyed by the blood of Jesus.
- Evil powers inserting themselves into my affairs, your time is up, die.
- Every stubborn Pharaoh assigned to control my destiny, drown in the Red Sea of God’s judgment.
- Powers that say I will not rise, be buried alive in the name of Jesus.
- Every ancestral power demanding control over my future, die by fire.
- Evil hands rearranging my blessings, wither now.
- Every demonic intervention in my marriage, scatter by fire.
- Every evil power intervening in my finances, release my prosperity and die.
- Strange powers manipulating my helpers against me, be exposed and destroyed.
- Every invisible chain connecting me to evil intervention, break now.
